iPad Facebook app exists…

…if you know where to look.

Apparently you can enable the iPhone facebook app to iPad mode just by adjusting a setting in the app itself. Just change the UIDeviceFamily setting from 1 to 2, and voila, instant FB in the native format. The offical release can’t be more than a few days away, but @AeroEchelon sent along the fix via twitter with a bit of a headstart. Enjoy!

Blogs and SEO comment spam

I’m sure this is a common occurence, but it’s still a bit annoying. Nobody has been told about this blog, with the exception of a single twitter post, that I added just to test out my google analytics plugin. (It’s working, btw…)

Regardless, insincere comments about how “impressive” my blog is when it’s a grand total of 6 posts and a generic WP template with absolutely zero customization kinda makes me not want to use your services. Ever. I am not signing up for your SEO optimization program or whatever it is you’re selling. If your search methods really did work, your blog would be at the head of google searches, and clearly they aren’t.

Good luck with that. Hey, by the way, I have some foolproof methods for buying lottery tickets and picking football point spreads…wanna find out more? Send $$$ to ….

Getting back in the cockpit again.

I am a bit stoked. I’ve met with a new CFI (certified flight instructor, for those not in the know), and starting back up with my pilots certifications- gonna work on getting my IFR and multi ratings. I haven’t been in the air in more than 10 years, and I’m really missing it. Just starting this blog got me thinking about it, and a few weeks ago I made some calls, and found a nice little Cessna 172 with my name on it. Continue reading Getting back in the cockpit again.

Choosing your battles…early adopter or late?

I am not a typical early adopter. I love gadgets, but newer is NOT always better. I waited a year before I got my first iPhone. And I got a refurb. (And I hated it. I’m not a Mac Fanboi.)  I waited until last year to get an Android phone – not because I didn’t want one, I just don’t see the percentage in shelling out a metric shit tonne of money for something just because it’s new. I will, however, shell out a metric shit tonne if a.) I can afford it, and b.) it’s something that actually does something valuable. I am an early adopter for the Honeycomb tablet because it actually does save me a ton of time.  That was not the case for the iPhone, only moderately the case for the ‘Droid phone. Android Tablet Heaven

I have had my Android Phone for a while now, and had been completely happy to have it. However the raw power in it has been diminished a bit by the recent acquisition of an Acer Iconia A500 tablet. I picked on up just over a month ago, in addition to a Viewsonic G-Tablet for the wife. Now… my phone is handy, as is hers, but it’s largely relegated to just pushing wifi so the tablet can surf.

Christy’s G-Tablet is an older, Android 2.2 Froyo device, but it is completely bastardized by Viewsonic. It is a horrible, horrible user experience, and doesn’t even have the Android Market available. Fortunately, Continue reading Android Tablet Heaven
